I'm curious: What are your favorite quotes?

Hey guys! So this is just a random discussion post. Well, discussion post isn't exactly accurate seeing as I'm really just asking a question, but I'm curious:

What are some of your favorite quotes from your favorite books?

For one, this is somewhat of a survey to see what quotes are most important to you (for a project I may(?) be doing). Second, I just like good quotes. 

In all honesty, I never write down quotes when I read and that's something I hope to remedy. I've read some brilliant books with even more brilliant sayings and always regret not writing them down. Some of them are incredibly deep and some are just downright funny.

So, what's your favorite quote? Give me anything! It can be funny, romantic, charming, deep, etc. Also, this may help with me possibly reading said book in the future :)

Audiobook Recommendations

Hey y'all. So I have a few questions for you. 

1. Do y'all like audiobooks?

2. If so, what audiobooks would you recommend?

3. If not, what are some of the downfalls of them?

I've never listened to an audiobook (if it's not obvious :P)and have contemplated getting one for some time. But, just like books, not all audiobooks are created equal. Sometimes the book may be good, but the person who reads it is an absolute bore to get through. No one wants to sit through a boring book for eight hours. That's like listening to a lecture given by an incredibly boring professor. No fun. So, I would love if y'all could give me recommendations of some really good books that are totally worth it! 

I hope y'all have an awesome day! And please pray for my mom as she is running the Marine Corps Marathon today! She'll be running 26 miles more than I'll ever want to XD

I decided to talk about this topic this week because I am currently experiencing this. Discussion: Should I get a twitter?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go ahead and laugh. I'm so completely behind the times when it comes to twitter. To be honest, I just didn't really get the point. I'm on facebook (personal, not a blog fb) but I'm not constantly updating my status so why would I want to be on a social networking site only for status updates. But then my friends keep telling me how fantastically awesome it is and I'm kind of intrigued. Not to mention it's a great way to get my blog and reviews out there and to meet new bloggers, readers and authors. If it's for my blog, I'll actually update my status to show new reviews/posts that are up. 

So the question is: Should I or shouldn't I?

Thinking Through Thursday (8)

Welcome to another "Thinking Through Thursday"! This is a post I write (or try to) every Thursday in which I discuss various bookish goodness. 

This week's discussion is:

Hardback vs. Paperback vs. Ebook

Book have always been either hardback or paperback, but with all this new technology ebooks have come into play. With so many options which do you choose?

My personal favorite has always been Hardback. Yes, they are more expensive, but to me they are just prettier and sturdier. Don't get me wrong, I love paperback too. I like that they become worn and you can tell that you love the book and read it a lot with its worn pages and spine. But I love the look of a hardback. I really do. I can't really place exactly why, I just always have. 

Ahhh....but now there are ebooks. Too many options! As I said, I normally buy hardbacks. Ebooks are probably last. I love my Kindle, don't get me wrong! But I love having an actual copy of a book. My Kindle is normally for Netgalley books and cheap books on Amazon. Or, if I'm kind of iffy on a series and the first book is cheap, I'll buy it on my Kindle and if I end up loving it, I'll buy physical copies. That actually happened with Divergent. Before I got into dystopians, I bought it on my Kindle to see if I would like it and I ended up falling in love! My Kindle is great for trips and vacations too.

Overall:

I love each for different reasons. While my favorite will always be Hardbacks, I love the worn feel of paperbacks and the ease of ebooks. I'll buy different types depending on the circumstances. It's a complicated system :P

Thinking Through Thursday (1)

Thinking Through Thursday

Hey y'all! So I've decided to start doing a weekly (I think :P) discussion post called Thinking Through Thursday. I don't know if I'll make it a meme or not. That depends on if other bloggers are willing to do it :) I love discussions and voicing my opinion (what can I say, I'm an opinionated gal!) but its really to let y'all know more about me and my preferences. I guess its similar to other memes that ask questions, but I hope mine will be more in depth discussions. Examples of some topics will be "why I DNF" or "Why I love dystopia" and whatnot. I think it could be fun because it gives y'all insight to me as a blogger. So, without further ado, my topic for this week is...

Why I DNF:

I picked this discussion because in the past month I've not finished 3 BOOKS! Okay, that may not be much for some people, but for me that's A LOT! So, I've decided to discuss what makes me DNF. A lot of these points go hand in hand but I've still separated them into different points.

1. Neither plot nor characters are interesting enough:

More often than not this has to do with lack of details. For example, the characters are flat and I don't get to know them. I can't stand that. When I can hardly find words to describe them and their personalities, then there is something wrong. I'm not saying I'm going to know every tiny thing that ticks them off, but I want to know them. Are they snarky? Kick-butt? Witty? Intelligent? Laid back? Shy?! WHAT ARE THEY LIKE! GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH!! Bah....Then, to top it all off, the plot isn't even awesome enough! So, the only feelings I get while reading are "meh"....I don't like "meh". Normally, if I don't like the characters but the plot is interesting enough, then I'll finish and vice versa. However, when they both aren't that great, I just give up. 

2. Lack of Details:

I'll fully admit that I'm a detail junkie. I would much rather have too many details rather than too little. Yes, too many details can get a bit tedious, but at least I know what the heck is going on! When there aren't enough details, I get completely lost and have absolutely no idea what is going on. No thanks. 

3. Doesn't evoke emotions. 

The emotions that I get while reading a book, whether good or bad, definitely makes a book worth reading. I've actually finished books that I really didn't like and gave two stars just because while reading I had emotions even if those emotions were along the lines of "I want to smack the MC" or "throw the books across the room" but it still evoked emotions! Win!  So, in short, whether the book evokes good or bad emotions, it's still something and I'll take something over nothing. 


Summary: 
In short, if the only feelings I get while reading are "meh" due to lack of character development, boring plot, or too few details, then I'm most likely to DNF.

Wither Discussion

Catch Wither Fever is a Read-a-long hosted by Andrea at The Overstuffed Bookcase and Jessie at The Daily Bookmark where we can read Wither and/or Fever and do reviews and discussion posts on them. Today, I've decided to discuss the content of Wither. 

This is an OPINION post, so please respect that. And I'm always open to other people's opinions so share away in the comments :D 

Content. 

As you know from the synopsis, this book deals with a polygamous marriage and Rhine's fight for freedom. I'm going to have to agree with Andrea at The Overstuffed Bookcase that the polygamy wasn't main aspect that bothered me. Do I agree with it? No. But in this book, it was the forced marriage that hit me harder. If you choose to be in a polygamous marriage, then by all means go ahead. But that is your choice. In Wither, Rhine isn't given a choice, but forced to be in this marriage. These young women are taken from their home and given to men with money with no other options. Did they ask to be there? No. They were forced. To say that I felt bad for them in an understatement. I can't even begin to imagine being in that situation! Which brings me to....

What would you do? 

In Wither, we are given 3 different POV's on the situation. While the book itself if just Rhine's perspective, you learn about the other sister wive's views on the polygamous marriage. You have Rhine, the freedom seeker. Cecily, the perfect sister wife. And Jessica, the accepter.  Just as each girl in the book reacted differently, so would each girl out in the real world. A lot of it depends on how your brought up also. For example, Rhine had freedom forcibly taken from her and just wants that freedom back, even if life inside the Mansion is better. Cecily was brought up thinking that becoming a sister wife was all there was to life and therefore, wanted to be the best she could be. Jessica, although she didn't truly want to be there, she was resigned to it. Each girls background helped shape her future. If I was in this situation, I'd love to believe that I'd be the defiant one and that I would do whatever I could to get out of there and get away from that injustice. But who knows? I'll admit, that mansion is nice, but to be forced to marry a guy you don't love? That's positively medieval!
