Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?.

This is so hard! I've actually read to completely fantastic books this month.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers and Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder

Both of these books were utterly fantastic. My review of Touch of Power is already up and I hope that my utter love for it can convince everyone else out there to read it. Honestly, Maria V. Snyder is an absolute fantastic writer that always creates beautiful new worlds with amazing characters.

Grave Mercy is....just wow. Female assassin? check. Court intrigue? check. Ruggedly hot man? check. Hate turned love relationship? check. Yes, this is a must-read for everyone. I'll literally throw it in your face if that's what it takes to get you to read this!

Now onto the not-so-fantastic books.

I don't hate either of them, they just weren't that great.

Vampire Academy, Oh Vampire Academy. How you disappointed me. Everywhere I turned it was "Vampire Academy"  this or "Dimitri is so hot" or "Rose kicks butt" that. Ugh....kill me now. Rose? She was mean. She's acts like a slut and then gets mad when people call her that. She has absolutely no respect for herself. I guess I'll be nice and say some good stuff about her: she's fiercely loyal and can kick-butt. Other than that, I wanted to SMACK HER. And Dimitri is nothing special. Not till he puts Rose in her place. I was definitely rooting for him them. The plot was about the only darn thing that kept me going.

Goddess Interrupted was good just not great. In the first book, it was Kate's dedication and heart that I truly loved. In this book, however, she got to whiny for me. I mean come on. The guy loved that girl for one thousand years. He's not gonna get over her in a few months! Give him a break! she kept giving him the ultimatum and I just wanted to smack her sometimes! And the plot was a bit anti-climatic. It could have been this really cool, hugely awesome plot, but it just fell flat. Bleh....Oh well. Look forward to my review of it next week.

So what about y'all? What books have you read this month that you professed huge amounts of love for? What about not so much?

All the best ♥

  1. Aw, sorry you didn't enjoy VA that much! Will you be giving the other books a go or are you done with the series? Just curious :)

    1. Actually....yes. I've even bought the second book! hahaha I talked to some people and they swore up and down that Adrian makes the series so thats pretty much the only reason I'll be reading it. If I don't like him, I still might continue, just because I loathe not finishing a series!

wasn't it great?!? She's absolutely amazing!

      Thanks, you too!!

  5. I really want to read Grave Mercy and Touch of Power. I loved Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder, but I have yet to read anything else she's written. I really need to get the sequel, Outside In! And I've always seen the Vampire Academy books around but I've never really been interested in reading them. I do, however, have The Goddess Test on my TBR list. No FF for me this week, just stopping by! Happy Friday! ;)

    1. Both are absolutely fantastic! I actually wanted to re-read them right after I finished :P I also loved Inside Out! it was very unique and interesting. I didn't like Outside In quite as much but I still thought it was good. And you haven't read Poison Study yet o_O Get your rear in gear! I thought it was fantastic! Though I've still yet to read the third in the series. Shame on me! The Goddess Test was good. I'm a bit iffy on the sequel. Hopefully I'll put up that review tomorrow :D Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Ohh!! I haven't read Grave Mercy or Touch of Power yet, but everywhere I go, I hear people raving about them so they're definitely two books that are WAY high on my TBR list! :) And I'm really sorry that VA wasn't as impressive as you hoped it would be! If I'm honest, if I just read the first book, I wouldn't have liked the series as much as everyone else either. But my friends forced me to read them in rapid succession, and I promise that they get SO much better -- it's the only reason why I enjoyed the series so much! :)

I hope you have an amazing weekend, Mackenzie! :) <3
