Follow Friday (4)

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

To be honest, I don't have a set answer for this. Sometimes I only read one book at a time (more often than not, especially if it's good) and sometimes I read as many as 3. As of right now I'm reading Starters and Scary School but I think I might go ahead and start Dark Eyes too just because I want something with a ton of action. It really just depends on what mood I'm in.

What about y'all? Can you multi-task or are you a 1 book kinda person?

All the best ♥

Follow Friday (3)

Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?.

This is so hard! I've actually read to completely fantastic books this month.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers and Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder

Both of these books were utterly fantastic. My review of Touch of Power is already up and I hope that my utter love for it can convince everyone else out there to read it. Honestly, Maria V. Snyder is an absolute fantastic writer that always creates beautiful new worlds with amazing characters.

Grave Mercy is....just wow. Female assassin? check. Court intrigue? check. Ruggedly hot man? check. Hate turned love relationship? check. Yes, this is a must-read for everyone. I'll literally throw it in your face if that's what it takes to get you to read this!

Now onto the not-so-fantastic books.

I don't hate either of them, they just weren't that great.

Vampire Academy, Oh Vampire Academy. How you disappointed me. Everywhere I turned it was "Vampire Academy"  this or "Dimitri is so hot" or "Rose kicks butt" that. Ugh....kill me now. Rose? She was mean. She's acts like a slut and then gets mad when people call her that. She has absolutely no respect for herself. I guess I'll be nice and say some good stuff about her: she's fiercely loyal and can kick-butt. Other than that, I wanted to SMACK HER. And Dimitri is nothing special. Not till he puts Rose in her place. I was definitely rooting for him them. The plot was about the only darn thing that kept me going.

Goddess Interrupted was good just not great. In the first book, it was Kate's dedication and heart that I truly loved. In this book, however, she got to whiny for me. I mean come on. The guy loved that girl for one thousand years. He's not gonna get over her in a few months! Give him a break! she kept giving him the ultimatum and I just wanted to smack her sometimes! And the plot was a bit anti-climatic. It could have been this really cool, hugely awesome plot, but it just fell flat. Bleh....Oh well. Look forward to my review of it next week.

So what about y'all? What books have you read this month that you professed huge amounts of love for? What about not so much?

All the best ♥

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

I'm normally open to a lot of genres but two I won't read are contemporary and realistic fiction. Why? Because I read books to escape. I want to leave this world and go somewhere else on a magical adventure with unicorns and rainbows. Okay, well not unicorn and rainbows cause I'm a "more action the better" type of gal but you get my point. If I wanted to read a book about real life, I'd just go live my own! When I read a contemporary/realistic fiction not only do they show a normal girl like me, but this girl is living a more interesting life than me and that just ain't fair. At least with other genres, even though they live more interesting lives than me, they aren't real.

What about y'all? Are there any genres you avoid like the plague?

Question of the Week: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

Well I don't actually have a bookshelf (I really gotta change that!), they are just kinda laying in piles around my room. However, those are just my books. Since my brother and sister read too, and have been reading a lot longer than I have, we have closets with boxes full of books. And probably more than half of those I haven't read. However, since I'm way to impatient to go count all those books, Ill count all of my books (bought, gifted, or borrowed from the library) which is only 17 right now. However, that doesn't include my kindle books. I probably have about 50 of those I haven't read! Good deals on e-books and no self-control don't make the best combination :/

How bout y'all?
